about us
Steve Trutenko started Tru Woodcraft Inc. in 2004 in rural Manitoba near the small farm community of Teulon.  His vision was to design and create superior millwork with incredible attention to detail. He was convinced that fashion and function could always work together and kept this in mind with every design.

Trained in British Columbia, Steve attended BCIT's Joinery program and graduated with honors.  He was awarded the bronze medal for the BC Skills competition of 2003.  He went on to build high-end furniture with Ornamentum, at the time Vancouver's only FSC-certified millwork shop.  This position of senior cabinetmaker had Steve building pieces for architects and designers like Victor Chan, Brad Cameron and Bing Thom.  Steve also played a big part in the fabrication of eco-certified millwork utilized in the Globe 2004 Sustainable Condo, designed by Peter Busby and Assoc.

After growing Tru Woodcraft in the Winnipeg, Manitoba market for three years, Steve moved his business to Calgary in 2007 to be closer once again to high-end millwork and design, with the ability to tap into the west coast market.

Tru Woodcraft Inc. operates in association with Richard Michieli Contracting Ltd. to combine creative millwork design with superior construction in projects ranging from renovations to complete homes.
